What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

OctoberWorks is a design-led publishing studio and independent imprint founded in 2009 by Jeanne Criscola. The studio partners with artists, scholars, civic leaders, and cultural practitioners to develop rigorously designed books that integrate editorial clarity, material intelligence, and long-term accessibility.

Operating through a print-on-demand and distributed publishing infrastructure, OctoberWorks provides comprehensive publishing services—including design, production management, ISBN and Library of Congress registration, distribution setup, and print coordination—while maintaining a curated imprint for select titles aligned with its intellectual and cultural mission.

The studio operates on a fee-based professional services model combined with sustainable, zero-inventory distribution, ensuring authors retain long-term access to their work without the financial risks associated with traditional publishing structures.

OctoberWorks prioritizes design excellence, editorial integrity, and enduring cultural contribution over volume-driven scale.
